Home of the original Rock n Roll race, I really wanted to do this event again because of the amazing weather and how close to home this place is. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Old Town State Park. While it is not as close to the start and/or finish lines as I prefer, it is one of my favorite places to stay for food and shopping. Danica and I both did the 5k on Saturday and today I did the Half Marathon for the “re-mix” challenge. The morning started out as expected for So Cal.
The starting line had the usual race crowd. RunRockNRoll was still doing the staggered start as we had seen at Virginia Beach and San Jose. I still felt relatively well trained from the last race 3 weeks ago but tried to take a slower start, once again using Jeff Galloway’s Run-Walk-Run strategy. This year, I made sure and stop for a shot of Tequila around miles 3-4. It seems kind of silly, but I really regretted not doing this when I had the chance in 2019.
I finished the race with an alright time for myself. Then, I forgot to pick up a few of the extra medals I had won. I guess I was much more tired and spent than usual. This race is definitely one of my favorites! We ended up going to celebrate with some Korean Barbeque.
