I had not run an official Half Marathon since February 2020. This event both excited me and made me nervous. I started my running hobby back in 2011 and have run many amazing locations and distances. It is one of my personal fitness goals to be able to run, hike, or walk 13.1 miles at any time. Signing up for these races gives me additional motivation to continue training. I had to give myself a little pep talk (mirror) before I left the hotel.
The sunrise was brilliant and a welcome start to the day. It was interesting to see a race starting line for the first time in a long while. They used a red light/green light system for a staggered start and to try and maintain some semblance of social distancing.
My run went really well. I was able to get into a good rhythm of running and walking intervals. The live music from the bands playing along the course was uplifting and welcoming. As the morning progressed, it did start to get rather hot, but not too unbearable.
Crossing the finish line felt amazing! I was very happy with my pace time and acquired another medal for my collection. I took a photo next to the famous Neptune statue and enjoyed some snacks and more live music.
