We are in VB this weekend for a labor day vacation and for me to run my first official half marathon since all the canceled races were put on hold. While I have been training for the distance, I am feeling a little nervous about this race. We also visited some friends of mine whom I have not seen in a few years. I booked a room at one of the beachfront Marriotts. What a view!
I found myself Vaguely reminded of my teenage years and vacations to Myrtle Beach and Florida. It is actually a really pretty city and beach. However, there are a few tourist traps common to this type of location. As a resident of the West Coast (and an early riser), I was really excited to finally get to enjoy some beach sun rises!
I also had my eyes open for some classic muscle cars. Here was a beautiful Ford Mustang Convertable:
At night, the streets were a mix of shoppers and bar hoppers. I had a few drinks on Friday, but had to go easy on Saturday because of the early morning race on Sunday.
When I wasn’t prepping for my race, I took a trip to the Aquarium. I love aquariums. This one may not be as great as Atlanta, Osaka, or Sydney, but it did have some nice displays. Sadly, I found no Penguins.
As the sunset, we found a cool bar named Repeal Bourbon & Burgers and enjoyed dinner and a few drinks. I ordered the God Father and Danica got the Californication. The food was amazing, but the drinks were even more fun! I tried a few and my favorite was a custom-built Old Fashioned based on Basil Hayden.
