Arriving in Paris for the first time is a little exciting and a little unnerving. There is so much that this European destination has to offer! Let’s explore.
When others discuss travel goals with me, it is not uncommon to hear someone’s desire to visit Paris, France. The history and influence of France and French Culture on the world are incredible. For me, France was also on my list of places to see; however, it was not one of the top locations. When my employer asked me to go and deliver some on-site training for some of our partners, I said yes!
I arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport also known as Roissy Airport after a red-eye (overnight) flight from the east coast of the USA. With a little jet lag setting in (+5 hours), I made my way to the TGV train station and then worked my way to my lodgings for the workweek. My corporate Travel Agent booked me into what was one of the most unique places I have ever stayed, a location called Mama’s Shelter. It’s hard to describe, yet I have told my friends that it was like a hybrid hotel, hostel, bar, and restaurant.
After I was checked in, I took a walk around the local neighborhood. I happened upon a farmers market out of pure luck where I purchased some snacks/drinks for my room. Staying hydrated and energized is important for overcoming jet lag.
Tomorrow (part 2), I am going to take the metro system and begin to explore the famous parts of the city. Stay tuned…
